New toy

Someone (me) has a new toy (grill). Gotta love the Celebration Front Porch web forum. New in box, cheaper than Amazon, and didn’t have to wait for Ken the UPS guy. There’s nothing like cooking on charcoal. More work, sure, but worth it. I enjoy the ritual. Thanks, Patrick.

Comcastic

I moved the other day. I was a Comcast cable TV and high-speed Internet subscriber at the old place. I moved several hundred yards, into a new place. I didn’t add or remove any services. I brought my own CableCARD (which was on file on my old account) and my own cable modem (also on [...]

Closing and moving

The house is ours. 80% of our stuff (by weight) is over there now, with furniture and whatnot waiting until tomorrow. I’m a mixture of exhausted and relieved, and the unpacking hasn’t even started. Ugh. We’ll crank the operation back up tomorrow morning and try to finish up before 1 or so… there’s a chance [...]

The move

By this time next week, our move will be done and we’ll have spent our first night in our new house. The closing is all set for Monday morning at 8:30am, so by 9:15 or so we’ll be homeowners once more. We’ve received the final HUD-1 — approved by our lender — and will venture [...]

One month and two days

Of course, I hadn’t met Sherri yet and I can’t imagine doing this with anyone else (she’s Supermom!), so that isn’t a regret I’m sharing, just me looking back… The baby’s amazing. All the stuff I thought would bother me doesn’t. I don’t care about changing [...]

Stalled?

No home showings over the weekend, and no offers from the 3 showings the weekend before. Seems to be a bit of a lull in activity. Concerns heard thus far pertain to the size/layout of the downstairs. Not much to do about that. We think the lack of central A/C might be keeping people away, [...]

Latest with the house

Progress is being made. The house was listed in the MLS on Thursday and, IMO, looks great. We had our first showing this morning, so Sherri and I had to make ourselves scarce… with the temperature hovering around 6 degrees when we left the house. What did we do? What the rest of America does [...]

Kitchen before & after

As part of Operation Let’s-Sell-The-House-And-Move-To-Florida (aka Operation Defrost), we needed to do an upgrade of the kitchen countertops. Besides being a hideous color, they featured a burn mark and a growing split. Funny enough, I don’t have a great “before” picture, even though I 1) knew this project was coming, and 2) take pictures of [...]
