Home Office

I’ll soon be joining the ranks of those who work full-time from home. I’m approaching this part of my life with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. From what I’ve read so far from other people who work from home, it’s essential to maintain work routines (get up, shower, get dressed in real clothes) and to separate work from home, even when those places may be mere feet (or “meters”) apart.

Our challenge for Florida is that we need 3 bedrooms (master, guest, little person) plus an office that’s not one of the bedrooms. Finding such a configuration in our target neighborhood of Celebration is a bit challenging, we’re finding. Not impossible, but more difficult than if we were looking at houses 5 miles to the east or west of Celebration, that’s for sure.

So I was spending time poking around the web, reading up on how other people arrange their home offices, and I came across the home office seen above. See, all it is is a fancy Tuff Shed. More information at his site. In a nutshell, he ordered a Tuff Shed, then wired it for power & data, put in an A/C, drywall, and voila! I love it! There’s a 99.995% chance that this kind of thing is disallowed in the Celebration CC&R docs, but a guy can dream, right?
