Have you seen the Travelocity commercials with the little gnome that resolves travel reservation-related issues?
I believe those commercials actually do a disservice to Travelocity in that they bring to light the possibility of problems with my reservation. Prior to seeing that commercial, it hadn’t occurred to me that reservations made through Travelocity might not be honored exactly as booked.
Is it enough for me not to use a site like Travelocity to book a hotel? Possibly. At the least I’ll call the hotel directly and see if they want to match the Travelocity price. That way I have a confirmation directly with the hotel. Then again there’s something to be said about the convenience factor that Travelocity adds to the transaction.
