I’ve been a fan of Douglas Coupland since someone recommended Microserfs to me a few years ago.
I finished Eleanor Rigby earlier today.
It was a decent read, though I felt like the book was only getting started by the time I reached the last few pages. I never feel like I get to know his characters. I’m used to a trade-off between exciting plot and interesting characters in most books I read, but I wouldn’t call any of Coupland’s books “plot-driven”. So what is it then? What were all those words I read? I still enjoy the read and I’ve bought most of his books, so what is it then?
I’d be interested in any author recommendations people want to send me.

I think I recommended Microserfs to you. Maybe not, though. I’ve been reading mostly non-fiction these days. My most recent read is, “Selling Women Short: The Landmark Battle for Women’s Rights at Wal-Mart”. Doing a search for Wal-Mart on the Chapters website, I see there are a lot more books about Wal-Mart. I might have to read more.
Now I’m reading “The Meaning of Wife” by Anne Kingston. Maybe not as fascinating to the men of America, but definitely a very informative and interesting read.
