It’s been an hour since i had my gum graft. The actual procedure wasn’t bad. Sooooo much blood, but that’s to be expected. I’m pretty sure I looked like a mess, as the stitch string dragged blood across my face. Oh, and I’m pretty sure I looked terrified, as the doctor kept asking me if I was OK.
At this point my mouth is still numb. So while the procedure itself is done, I’m wondering if this is just the beginning of the adventure. I’m STARVED but I dare not eat anything yet… not because they told me I can’t, but because I don’t want to upset anything. It didn’t help that the doctor reviewed all my dietary choices with me, making me think about food even more.
- Breakfast: milk, hot chocolate, Ovaltine (“that’s GOLD, Jerry!”), tea, coffee, juice; stewed fruits (WTF?); cooked cereals: oatmeal, Wheatena, cream of wheat; eggs: soft-boiled, scrambled, fried, or poached.
- Lunch and dinner: soups; ground beef, broiled or baked fish, broiled chicken, eggs as above; noodles, pasta, dumplings, macaroni and cheese, soft bread, baked or whipped potatoes; cooked vegetables; cottage cheese, cream cheese, yogurt; canned fruit, baked apples; pudding, gelatin, custard. You may chew if it is not too uncomfortable to do so.
Typing this in didn’t help my hunger, either. What was I thinking? Damn… I should’ve had a kickass Morton’s steak last night before the surgery.
