How to pluralize word’s

Written By: brian - Oct• 19•07

Either I’m growing more eccentric (possible!) or there’s been a rise in the misuse of apostrophes in our society. There’s a thing going around where anytime you want to pluralize a word, you add an apostrophe and ‘s’ to the end. Examples:

I’ll have two taco’s.
Look into the pro’s and con’s of that.
Animal Planet is showing a special on beaver’s.

This is the opposite of correct, though I won’t point it out to you directly.

    You are right!

Have we all forgotten how to use contractions, plurals, and possessive nouns?

Another one that is misused quite a bit: “your” when “you’re” is indicated.

Okay…held that to a teeny tirade.

    Amen and amen.

My other favorite goof is the inappropriate use of quotation mark’s. I saw a blog recently dedicated to this subject. People take picture’s of sign’s with inappropriate quote’s and email them in.

Yeah, I’ve seen quotes used in lieu of bold or underline.

Yes, I have to agree with Mischele. The inappropriate use of “their and “they’re” and “there” *really* drives me insane! It seems to be very common these days.
