Plumbing experience

I’m happy to report success in my first real plumbing adventure as a homeowner again.

The hot water pipe leading to the utility sink in the basement was leaking a slow drip-drip-drip. It was manageable in the short term using a bucket, but ultimately needed to be fixed.

Co-worker Mike and I popped home during lunch time to tackle the project. It didn’t go quite as expected, though. I’ll spare most of the details, mostly because it’s late and I’m sleepy. I’ll summarize by saying the project required two trips to Home Depot and one to Lowe’s.

I learned a lot, though, and am highly confident I could fix a similar leak with similar pipes should another problem crop up. Now I just need the torch, clamps, pipe cutter, solder,…
