SoCal, day x

Written By: brian - Jul• 26•07

I didn’t really get a chance to write on the other days, now did I? During my six days in Anaheim area I was either a) working, b) eating, c) sleeping, d) walking.

So now I’m back from California. Both conferences went well. The first one had two few attendees (a bad thing), and the second had lots and lots of attendees (a good thing). Overall I was pleased with the area of Anaheim I was in, having stayed at the Doubletree Suites in Harbour Drive. It was easy walking distance to Morton’s, Ruth’s Chris, and the Convention Center. It was ok-ish walking distance from Disneyland and Downtown Disney, at around 1.5 miles.

A few unsorted thoughts from the trip:

  • Dave & Buster’s has this awesome six player trivia game that I totally r0cked
  • Five years old is not an appropriate age to still have a pacifier (girl spotted at Downtown Disney)
  • Next time I’m at Ruth’s Chris, ask for them to hold the butter
  • Next time I’m at Ruth’s Chris, they’d better have ribeye or New York strip… this particular RC was out of both
  • Southern California weather is stunning, in case you didn’t know
  • Newport Beach is… meh… pretty much the same as the beach towns in Florida I’m used to
  • The IRS is tricky, and assumes a $0 cost basis when you forget to report some of your investments from 2005
  • The West Coast is far, far away from the East Coast
  • The chefs at Agio at the Doubletree Suites don’t know how to make chicken marsala, though what they call chicken marsala is still quite tasty
  • I’m waaaay behind on my Facebook Scrabble games
  • My wife is amazing
  • On the whole, the games at ESPN Zone kinda suck. And what’s the story with the 3 story rock climbing wall that’s never open?
