It appears we’re in auto-pilot mode for the items we have to complete before the closing on Friday. I worked with the lender and insurance company to iron out any remaining issues. Our mortgage is now on the ‘ready-to-close’ pile. Homeowners insurance is purchased, pre-paid for a year, and ended up being cheaper than expected.
My updated to-do list at this point:
Contract with heating oil company, get refill ASAP
Get cashiers check for closing, put personal check in wallet in case of “fine-tuning” payment
Receive HUD-1
Final walk-through
Attend closing
I believe that’s all. AFTER we settle there’s a whole OTHER list of things to do, starting with a visit to Lowe’s. That list at this point is below, and only includes items for projects this weekend. We’re keen on finishing painting before furniture starts to arrive.
The list:
Pry bar
Dust mask
Work gloves
Painters tape
Paint (color for MBR, generic white for basement stairs)
Rollers
Roller handle
Foam brushes
Roller trays
Ice breaker
Another update likely on Friday evening.
Ah, the traditional new-home-trip-to-Lowe’s (or Home Depot).
You love it!
