The facts as they stand now are these:

* I want a Wii.

* I don’t want to pay $400 on eBay for it. I will pay $249 (list price) plus tax. Possibly shipping if a friend finds one somewhere else.

* Best Buy, Circuit City, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, and Toys Backwards-R Us near us don’t have any.

* When I called the local Target and asked for the video games department, the Target operator had a prepared answer that she recited. They don’t have any in stock. They don’t know when they’re getting more. You can check the Sunday paper to see if any are advertised. The line starts forming on the Sunday after an ad at around 6am. She had given this speech many times. She said she heard that the Lancaster Target had some they couldn’t sell.

* Did the Target operator make an Amish joke that was so subtle even I didn’t get it until later?

* The Lancaster Target did not have any Wii’s. I called.
