New ants arrived today, in time to celebrate the 1 week anniversary of their Big Bang (the event in which their entire universe was created). By my count there were 21 ants shipped, 20 living and 1 dead. Not bad, and certainly better than the 8 living in the first batch. One old ant tried to get away while I was distracted with procedural work involving the new immigrants, but I snagged him with a spoon about a quarter mile away (scale-adjusted) and liberated him from a life of freedom on the outside.

As mentioned previously, the old ants have almost hollowed out the whole left-hand side of the habitat:

I expect the new ants to whip the old ones into shape.
