I can check the outstanding balance on my Lowe’s gift cards online. Why can’t I do this for Home Depot? According to Home Depot’s Gift Card FAQ:

How can I check the balance remaining on my Gift Card?
To determine the balance available on a Gift Card, simply visit any of our stores and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Currently, we are unable to provide Gift Card balances online.

I can’t wait to get in my car, drive to a Home Depot, and wait in a cashier line so they can check my balance. Way to keep up with the times.
