Neil Diamond

Written By: brian - Nov• 04•06

This post doesn’t actually have anything to do with Neil Diamond; Sweet Caroline has been stuck in my head all day for no good reason. (Technically, I guess that means this post does have something to do with Neil Diamond. Damn.)

Winter’s here with a vengeance. The high today was around 44 degrees, I’d say, though we did try to get out of the house a little bit with a trip to the library (I stayed in the car and read the paper) and a walk to the end of the block. It’s a damp cold, though, and not suitable for humans, even bundled-up ones. Tomorrow we’ll be outside, weather be damned, ’cause we have to get all these leaves off the lawn. I’ll try to remember to snap a picture beforehand. We went through this exercise only two weeks ago, so I’m wondering what all that effort was for. I strongly feel the leaves will end up blown into the bushes this time instead of chopped/bagged/hauled to the garage. I’d like to give nature a chance to get its rot on. Whatever we choose, I can look forward to being outside most of tomorrow in arctic temperatures, a leaf blower motor an arm’s length away from my ear drums.I’d like to see Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan in the theaters, with an audience, but I don’t think anyone I know is up for it. :( Either I’ll strong-arm Sherri into seeing it or I’ll be waiting for the DVD.

Did you know Christmas is right around the corner, figuratively speaking? Didn’t we just go through this a few months ago? Anyway, Amazon.com has a Gift Organizer feature that seems pretty cool, though I question the recommendations it comes up with:

Amazon Christmas Suggestions

Annie is my three year old niece, and Leighton well… while I’m sure he’d appreciate the gift, I don’t think Godiva Signature Truffles is at the tip-top of his list. I’ll be interested to see how the recommendations change as Amazon continues to learn my purchasing habits. Maybe some lucky person will be getting a Bedazzler in their stocking!
